What is Latisse® and Who is it for?

Like most of us, you’ve probably wished for a way to really make your eyes POP! Latisse® is now available and will fulfill a previously unmet need by millions of people, with a clinically meaningful aesthetic benefit and a favorable safety profile. ClearView Family EyeCare is proud to be one of the first Birmingham eye care providers to make available to our patients Latisse®, a prescription treatment for growing longer, thicker, and darker eyelashes. Latisse® is the first and only FDA approved treatment for people with inadequate or insufficient eyelashes. Its use has been clinically demonstrated to result in longer and more luxurious eyelashes.

How Does Latisse Work?

Latisse® is believed to work by extending the length of time that eyelash hairs stay in their growth phase and by increasing the number of eyelash hairs that are in the growth phase. This means that when your existing eyelash hairs are replaced with new eyelash hairs, the new hairs will be thicker, darker, and longer.
Using Latisse® is quite easy. Each night, after removing make-up, taking out any contact lenses, and washing your face, simply place one drop of Latisse® solution on the enclosed sterile applicator. Then draw the applicator carefully across the skin of the upper eyelid where the eyelashes meet the skin. Pass the applicator from the inner part of your lash line to the outer part, and then blot any excess solution beyond the eyelid margin.

The results are truly astounding. Take a look at these actual results from the FDA study that shows the progressive improvement seen at 1, 8, and 16 weeks with Latisse®™.

Visible improvement in the appearance of the eyelashes will occur gradually. In the clinical trial leading to FDA approval, the majority of Latisse® users saw a significant improvement in eyelashes within two months. Patients have greatly enjoyed the longer, thicker, and darker eyelashes that result from using Latisse®.

Study results showed the eyelashes of patients that were treated with Latisse® typically grew 25% longer, 106% thicker and 18% darker.

Is Latisse® safe?

The FDA has approved Latisse® after undergoing required research and found this to be a safe, effective treatment. A small amount of patients (3.6%) experienced minor side effects.

What happens if I stop using Latisse®?

Your eyelashes will gradually return to their prior appearance if treatment isn't maintained.

Can I just buy Latisse® at the drugstore?

No, you must have a prescription. You will need an evaluation by Dr. Keriotis to determine if you are a candidate for this exciting product. Dr. Keriotis wants your experience using this product to be safe and enjoyable.
During your evaluation, we will also review your medical history to determine whether Latisse® is right for you. You will be instructed in its proper use so that you can apply it properly and safely at home. You also will be informed about possible side effects.
